The Hampton National Historic Site will receive a transformative boost with $14 million from the Great American Outdoors Act.

This major investment will support the rehabilitation of 14 historic structures, including the mansion, greenhouses, and overseer’s house, as well as the preserved quarters once inhabited by enslaved families.

Enhancements will safeguard the site’s unique architectural legacy and ensure that diverse local histories are accessible to everyone.

Construction is slated to start in fall 2025, unfolding over two years.

Beyond vital repairs, the project will introduce modern amenities and accessibility upgrades, deepening the educational impact for future generations.

This restoration is about more than buildings—it’s a commitment to honoring complex stories and opening new learning opportunities for the community.

Upon completion, residents and visitors can expect a safer, more welcoming Hampton site, rich with local significance.
