Joke Of The Day

What do you call a group of cats in Hampton, Georgia?

A purr-ty!

When the temperatures start to climb and the Georgia sun turns golden in the late afternoon, there's really only one thing to do — get outside. And here in Hampton, you don't have to go far. From shaded walking trails to splash pads, baseball diamonds to quiet green spaces, our city's parks offer something for just about every age, pace, and mood. Spring is hands down the best time to rediscover them.

McBrayer Park: Hampton's crown jewel

If you haven't visited McBrayer Park lately, consider this your nudge. Spread across 40 beautiful acres, McBrayer is the kind of place that reminds you how lucky we are to live where we do. The park is home to seven lighted baseball and softball fields, a basketball court, tennis courts, a skate park, and a splash pad that the little ones absolutely love once the heat rolls in. There are picnic pavilions available to rent for gatherings, a playground, a picnic gazebo, and walking trails that wind through green space — perfect for an easy morning stroll or an evening wind-down. Whether you're cheering on a little leaguer or just looking for a peaceful bench and some fresh air, McBrayer delivers every single time.

East Hampton Parks: neighborhood gems worth exploring

Hampton's East Hampton Parks are some of our best-kept secrets. These smaller neighborhood parks are scattered throughout the community and offer green space, benches, swings, and a quieter pace for those who prefer a more relaxed outdoor experience. They're ideal for a short walk with the dog, letting the kids burn off some energy after school, or simply sitting in the shade and watching the world slow down for a few minutes. Sometimes the best park is the one that's just around the corner.

Beyond city limits: nature just a short drive away

Hampton's location puts residents within easy reach of some truly special natural destinations. Lake Horton Park is a local favorite for fishing, boating, and lakeside picnics — a gorgeous spot to spend a Saturday morning. Nash Farm Battlefield offers a meaningful step back in history alongside open grounds and walking paths. And for those who love a good nature trail, the HCWA Cubihatcha Outdoor Center features a protected wetlands area with multiple hiking loops, including a 1.2-mile blue trail, and is open Monday through Friday for those who want a weekday escape into the trees.

Make it a habit this spring

There's real medicine in a walk through the park — the kind that doesn't come in a bottle. As the days grow longer and the evenings stay warm well past dinner, Hampton's parks are ready and waiting. Bring the kids, bring the dog, bring a neighbor you've been meaning to catch up with. Get out there and enjoy the beautiful community you live in — because this is exactly the kind of spring weather we wait all year for. We'll see you on the trails.
